Sinopsis

Seven months before his death, John Lennon stood at the helm of his 43-foot yacht, the crew and captain having fallen ill, and with no experience sailing. But there was no other option; he had to guide the ship in a dangerous storm. With tears in his eyes, he felt more than ever the reality of his own mortality. Something in him changed. He would say of the experience: "Once I accepted the reality of the situation, something greater than me took over and all of a sudden I lost my fear. I actually began to enjoy the experience."2 After the storm ended and his six-day trip from New York to Bermuda was over, he was reinvigorated: "I was so centred after the experience at sea that I was tuned in to the cosmos..."3
