Drawing together cutting¿edge research in musicology, medieval translation studies, Indonesian intellectual history, and psycholinguistics, this edited volume showcases how translation, interpretation, and cultural adaptation(s) function as engines of human creativity across vastly different societies. The opening chapter dismantles the long¿assumed concept of acceleratio mensurae, revealing-through precise linguistic analysis-that this supposed Renaissance tempo practice is a modern scholarly myth, born from misreadings of Renaissance music theorist Jehan le Taintenier, better known as Johannes Tinctoris (c. 1435-1511). From there, the volume moves to medieval Iberia, where Galician¿Portuguese poetry emerges as a site of intercultural mediation, shaped by Provençal/Occitan lyric traditions and Islamic ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ (al-Andalus; Muslim-ruled Iberia, 711-1492) intellectual legacies. Subsequent chapters shift to Indonesia, examining Pela Gandong as an evolving model of brotherhood that expands from local Maluku kinship to national identity, and exploring Bugis Lontara manuscripts as repositories of ethical balance, justice, and communal harmony transmitted across generations. Additional contributions highlight the translation of ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ Bugis children's songs as vehicles of moral formation and cultural continuity. The final chapter addresses contemporary linguistic needs through the cultural adaptation of psychometric reading-comprehension tests in Albanian, showing how rigorous translation, back-translation, and validation can produce reliable tools for literacy assessment in an orthographically transparent language. Together, these studies illuminate the power of translation-textual, cultural, ethical, and cognitive-as a way to understand how communities negotiate meaning across time, space, and tradition(s)/lore. By foregrounding interdisciplinary methodology, cross¿cultural analysis, and context¿sensitive interpretation, this volume offers scholars a rich comparative framework and a set of keyword concepts-cultural mediation, local wisdom, philological translation, ethical balance, intercultural hybridity, psychometric adaptation-that underscore the book's unique contribution to global translation studies and the humanities, inviting readers to appreciate how diverse traditions generate new knowledge through sustained dialogue, purposeful cultural exchange, acceptance/tolerance, and deeply rooted intellectual curiosity.
