Sinopsis

The Bible tells us what happened. Richard Littledale invites you to imagine what happened next.

What happened to Noah's neighbours after the ark doors closed? What became of the innkeeper who welcomed Mary and Joseph? How did Barabbas live after receiving an unexpected second chance?

The Bible is filled with people whose lives were transformed by an encounter with God, yet many disappear from the pages of Scripture almost as quickly as they arrive.

In What Happened Next?, author Richard Littledale uses biblical imagination to explore the possible ripple effects of these life-changing encounters. Through 52 engaging devotional readings, readers are invited to step into the stories of overlooked Bible characters and imagine how their lives may have been changed by God's presence and power.

Beginning with Scripture and followed by a creative reflection, prayer, thought-provoking application and practical response, each devotional helps readers engage more deeply with God's Word and discover fresh insights from familiar Bible stories.

Perfect for personal devotions, Bible study, small groups or quiet times, this inspiring Christian devotional encourages spiritual growth, deeper faith and a renewed appreciation for the transforming power of Scripture. 'Each [devotion] reflects on what happens when the lives of different people collide with the plans and activities of God. Some are amazed, some are terrified, some are puzzled and none are left unchanged. These stories show us how those aftershocks may have unfolded, though we cannot know for certain, of course. The Bible can be read as one vast narrative, stretching like an arc over all human history from the first moment of creation to the final ‘amen’ spoken in the New Jerusalem. Beneath that arc are kings and beggars, shepherds, fishermen and jailers. Most of them can occupy only a few sentences of that bigger story, and so we never get to see the marks left on their lives by playing their part. Consider these stories as a telephoto lens, zooming in on the faces of those involved, with all their tears and smiles.'
