A powerful preacher, R.A. Torrey was the first superintendent of the Moody Bible Institute, pastor of the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles, and dean of the Bible Institute in Los Angeles (now Biola University). He served as the editor of The Fundamentals, a landmark series that explains the basics of the Christian faith.
