Cutting-edge sensor technologies used for environmental monitoring provide precise, timely, reliable, and current information about a process or event, capturing signals in response to changes in the source or in the environment, and generating appropriate responses based on those signals. This new two-volume book set delves into the world of innovative environmental sensor technologies and their uses in detection, measurement, and remediation of environmental pollutants
The books provide application-based approaches that use real-world examples, current research, and practical experiments to explain how environmental sensor technology can be used to battle climate change, monitor pollution, and remediate it in a practical, efficient, and advanced manner. This volumes provide a thorough understanding of sensing technology for climate change produced by manmade activities that were not previously monitored and measured by climate change drivers.
Volume 1: Climate Change Impact and Environmental Implications focuses on the structure, design, and operation of environmental sensor technologies and then explores the specific applications, such as for measuring climate change and for environmental monitoring, for monitoring landslides, for soil pollution detection, for carbon biomass estimation, and for smart agriculture farming practices.
Volume 2: Environmental Pollution and Remediation Technologies focuses on sensor-based air quality monitoring, monitoring water and waste water pollution, detection and control of wildfires and deforestation, environmental contamination detection, removal and remediation of contaminated soils, and more.
Intended for environmental scientists, chemical engineers, conservationists, biologists, medical experts, students interested in sensor-based research and careers, as well as junior researchers and professors teaching different courses on research methods, climate change, pollution control, natural resource conservation, and health impact, these volumes will be convenient and concise references as well as an inspiration for future research.

S. A. Shameem, PhD, is currently affiliated with the Division of Environmental Sciences at SKUAST-K, India, bringing over two decades of teaching, research, and extension program experience at both the college and university level. He has served as a resource person delivering lectures on environmental issues and working as an environmental specialist on national-level projects sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MOEFCC) in the cold desert of Leh Ladakh and Kashmir Valley. With a track record of supervising over 25 postgraduate and MPhil students in Environmental Science, he has also led RCM-approved research projects at SKUAST-K focusing on medicinal plants, conservation, future challenges, and ecosystem services. He has an extensive publication list in reputable national and international journals as well as a strong presence at national and international conferences, training sessions, symposiums, and seminars. He has actively taken part in various faculty development programs and workshops while also being a member of several national-level academic and research organizations and serving as a reviewer for national and international journals. Recognized for his contributions, Dr. Shameem has received several accolades. He also has many books to his credit.
Saleem Ahmad Yatoo, PhD, is presently working as Assistant Professor (C) at Government Degree College, Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, India. He has teaching experience at the secondary school, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. In addition to this, under his supervision, 25 students have completed their project work and dissertations, and many others are still working under his supervision. His areas of expertise are in remote sensing and GIS (geographic information system), LST (land surface temperature) mapping, land use/land cover change, climate change, ecology, biodiversity, wetland ecology, and limnology. In addition to teaching, he has published research papers with international journals from Springer, Taylor and Francis, etc. He has also published two books: Metal Oxide-Based Carbon Nanocomposites for Environmental Remediation and Safety and GIS & Remote Sensing: Recent Trends Tools and Applications. He has participated in a number of national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, and training programs to develop his research and teaching insight.
Khalid Rehman Hakeem, PhD, is Professor at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After completing his doctorate (botany, specialization in plant eco-physiology and molecular biology) from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, India, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, India, and at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Selangor, Malaysia, where he was a Postdoctorate Fellow and Fellow Researcher (Associate Professor) for several years. Dr. Hakeem has more than 10 years of teaching and research experience in plant eco-physiology, biotechnology and molecular biology, medicinal plants, plant-microbe-soil interactions, as well as in environmental studies. He is the recipient of several fellowships at both national and international levels. He has served as a visiting scientist at Jinan University, Guangzhou, China. Currently, he is involved with several international research projects with various government organizations. To date, Dr. Hakeem has authored and edited more than 60 books with international publishers. He also has to his credit more than 170 research publications in peer-reviewed international journals and 55 book chapters in edited volumes. At present, Dr. Hakeem serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for several high-impact international scientific journals. He is included in the advisory board of Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK. He is also a fellow of the Plantae Group of the American Society of Plant Biologists, and a member of the World Academy of Sciences, the International Society for Development and Sustainability (Japan), and the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (Korea).
