Physics is the branch of natural science that studies the nature and properties of matter and energy.
The term ‘physics’ is derived from the Ancient Greek word, i.e. ‘phusikḗ’ meaning knowledge of nature.
Mechanics science is concerned with the motion of bodies under the action of forces, including the particular case in which a body remains at rest. The powers that bodies exert on one another are of first concern in the activity problem. This leads to studying such topics as gravity, electricity, and magnetism, according to the nature of the forces involved. Given the pressures, one can seek how bodies move under the action of powers; this is the subject matter of mechanics proper.
Mechanics may be divided into three branches: statics, which deals with forces acting on and in a body at rest; kinematics, which describes the possible motions of a body or system of bodies; and kinetics, which attempts to explain or predict the movement that will occur in a given situation. Alternatively, mechanics may be divided according to the kind of system studied.
Generally, mechanics were among the first of the exact sciences to be developed. Its inner beauty as a mathematical discipline and its remarkable early success in accounting in quantitative detail for the motions of the Moon, Earth, and other planetary bodies enormously influenced philosophical thought. Moreover, it provided an impetus for the systematic development of science.
Physics significantly contributes to technology, such as television, computers, the cell/mobile phone, advanced home appliances, nuclear weapons, etc.
The essential topics studied in physics are mechanics, electricity, magnetism, heat, sound, light and other radiation, and the structure of atoms. Physics additionally justifies the evolution, construction, and functions of numerous elements Mechanics, heat & thermodynamics, optics, sound, electricity, and magnetism of the universe.
The considerable Branches of Physics include Classical mechanics, Applied mechanics.
