Sinopsis

Jacob of Serugh (450-521) is known to be one of the greatest Syriac doctors. A native of Hawra in the district of Sarug on the outskirts of Edessa, he attended the famous school of Edessa like other poets of his time, but adhered to the faction of Cyril of Alexandria and broke with the school. It was also said that he adhered to the views of Severus of Antioch and was promoted to bishop in 512. Poetic texts are attributed to him in all Syriac liturgy books. He composed 763 memre outside of his letters and was said to be successfully inspired by the scriptures. He saw Greek theology as useful and tried to understand the mysteries of revelation of the Son. His Christology is based on anthropology, the conception of creation and of salvation. His Homily on salvation follows this line of thought: that humans are the beloved creatures of the divine, that they are made in love, and at the time when all times shall come to an end, they shall be reunited in a beautiful procession with the essence of life. Let author and global speaker Rev. Dr. AWELE ILOBAH take you into the artistic mind of Jacob, his passion for poetry and his writing, by sharing with you a variation Homily she has created, which reflects Jacob’s style of writing and pulls those who are ready into a passionate romantic love that is shared between the soul and the Divine. This book also gives you an in-depth exposition about the beliefs of the Orthodox faith and the significance it holds for modern generations.
