This textbook is an introduction to quantum mechanics (QM) for physical chemistry lecture with the goal of studying molecules. It starts with the Postulates of QM and ends with molecules and Nanoscience. It uses MATLAB® routines in homework, lecture, and the text to illustrate the Matrix Approach to QM, the use of complex functions, and to obtain symbolic solutions to difficult differentiation and integration problems, i.e. it represents a better pathway to advanced QM. The WebMO® exercises allow performance of ab initio calculations in class, lecture, and homework which support the concepts on atoms and molecules. Since spectroscopy is the application of QM, spectroscopic results are integrated throughout. Readers will build a toolbox of math and analytical skills widely used in many other fields.
