Acerca de los autores

Maria Lofgren, DNP, ARNP, NNP-BC, CPNP, FAANP, is a visionary leader with over 35 years of experience spanning leadership, strategic planning, building clinical practice models, and establishing key partnerships. She is a Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Faculty Practice at the University of Iowa College of Nursing, and the Director of Advanced Practice Providers at University of Iowa Health Care. She is dually certified as a pediatric and neonatal nurse practitioner, is a Fellow of the American Associationof Nurse Practitioners, and has been named one of Iowa's 100 Great Nurses. She has multiple peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, posters, and presentations and has mentored numerous APRNs and PAs. She serves on countless committees and professional organizations institutionally, statewide, and nationally. Lofgren was instrumental in leading an enterprise-wide infrastructure to maximize advanced practice providers' integration, leadership structure, and productivity. She co-leads the Certificate Program for Advanced Practice Providers and developed the course Clinical Practice Management and Leadership for Advanced Practice Providers at the University of Iowa College of Nursing.

Christine Gust, MBA, PHR, SHRM-CP, is an experienced human resources professional skilled in onboarding, training, talent acquisition, recruiting, process improvement, compliance, applicant tracking systems, leadership, interviewing, human resources information systems, and employee relations. Her work has led to aligning HR strategies to advanced practice provider organizational objectives, policies, programs, and initiatives. She is skilled at applying process improvement methodologies and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt. She is experienced with best practices and understands the value of healthcare team optimization utilizing APPs. With over 25 years of HR experience, she serves as the human resources subject matter expert for APP-related matters within University of Iowa Health Care. Gust leads institutional metrics related to APP employment, turnover, transfers, and board specialty and has worked on special interest projects to optimize APP practice. She is well versed in APP onboarding, training, engagement, and retention. She is resource savvy and collaborates with the University of Iowa College of Nursing, Carver College of Medicine (PA Studies), and other programs for APP impact statewide.

Douglas Van Daele, MD, FACS, is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and is affiliated with the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System. He is an expert in his field and is nationally and internationally known for his work. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, abstracts, and presentations; has received a variety of federally funded grants; and is an acclaimed educator teaching over 100+ otolaryngology residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Head and Neck Society, and the Triological Society, and he has received multiple awards for his outstanding achievements. He is the Co-chair for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force at UI Health Care and serves on countless committees and professional organizations institutionally, statewide, and nationally. He is a respected physician, leader, and colleague to many and has spearheaded an enterprise-wide infrastructure to maximize the integration, leadership structure, and productivity of advanced practice providers. He is an innovative leader in healthcare and has led institutional, community, and state partnerships as he has championed opportunities involving APPs in the name of patient access, quality, and collaborative teams across the healthcare continuum.
