This book serves as an elementary guide to showcase some statistical and mathematical models that have been applied and used in contemporary ecological or evolutionary research. Some models may be old-fashioned, whilst some others have been further extended or developed so as to better address special research questions presented in each chapter of the book. Technical aspects of each statistical model are presented in detail to allow readers to follow and apply their own research and practices.

Acerca del autor

Youhua Chen is interested in biodiversity conservation, biogeography, numerical ecology and computational biology. He has published over 70 papers in international journals and two monographs. He has a long-term interest of applying statistical and mathematical models to address biological and biogeographic questions. He is also interested in applying geographical information system, climate data and remote sensing data to assess the impacts of climate change, land use and human disturbance on species extinction.
