A power system combines the diverse aspects of generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy to supply energy for a variety of household and industrial applications. The study of power systems is an inter-disciplinary subject that integrates electrical and electronic engineering for the design and operation of grids and other power systems. One of the major difficulties in power systems is in maintaining the frequency value. Even minor fluctuations in the frequency can damage appliances and synchronous machines. Power systems have one or more sources of power, such as batteries, fuel cells or photovoltaic cells. Some of the components of power systems are conductors, capacitors, reactors, etc. Protective devices such as circuit breakers and protective relays are also crucial to power systems.
