Sinopsis

The Tudor era began with knights and castles, and ended with intercontinental trade and scientific discoveries, as the medieval period gave way to early modern times. England and Wales were profoundly changed between 1485 and 1603 with the Tudor monarchs imposing their vision for a new age on to their people, transforming the religious, economic, social and political life of the country. The Tudors ruled England and Wales for 118 years before being succeeded by the Stuarts. During Tudor times, increasing wealth gave people more spare time. Many went to the theatre to see plays written by men such as William Shakespeare or Christopher Marlowe. Others played sports, including tennis, football and cricket. During the Tudor Age, Europeans discovered the Americas and found sea routes to Asia and East Africa. The Tudor monarchs encouraged English merchants to launch trading voyages to the new lands. Colonists settled in North America, while merchants moved to Russia, India and other distant lands. These ventures were the start of what was to become the British Empire.
