Summer Solutions Standards-Based English Grammar & Mechanics 1 is for students who are entering grade 2. The Standards-Based State Standards require that these students be able to print all upper and lowercase letters; to use common, proper, and possessive nouns, as well as other parts of speech; to write simple and compound sentences; to apply appropriate capitalization and punctuation in their writing; and to begin to spell words correctly based on generalized spelling patterns.
