It is very possible for children with a hearing loss to achieve and develop a fluent and intelligible spoken language when their residual hearing is applied to the fullest extent in an interactive language learning environment. Based on twenty five years of advisory and hands-on research and experience across fourteen countries in five continents, this book is a practical guide for those seeking to lead children with hearing impairment to fluent intelligible spoken language by engaging in quality interaction at the language learning stage. Morag Clark draws directly from the cases in her own work experience all over the world and challenges professionals to examine their existing approach to early intervention in the life of families of children with a hearing loss in light of recent advances in audiology, technology, medical science, and psycholinguistics.
