Avid hunting fans call the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon the "supreme gundog", and this versatile "all-game" dog from the Continent proves just that. Developed by Dutchman E K Korthals in the 19th century, the breed has been fostered by French sportsmen to become an adaptable, professional hunting companion. Although the Griffon's personality is one of the breed's calling cards - at home he's at once goofy and serious, aloof and passionate, laid-back and driven - this is not a "pet-only" canine.
