Dr. James Giancaspro is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Miami. He received Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctoral degrees in Civil Engineering from Rutgers, the State University. He collaborated with scientists at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to investigate high temperature resistant materials used in aerospace applications. He also spent several years in the Structural Damage Technology Division of Boeing, where he developed test methods for composite materials and experimental programs to evaluate their durability and damage tolerance. Currently, his research includes concrete surface measurement and modification, optical strain measurement techniques, and material testing. In 2013, he was the recipient of the James M. Robbins Excellence in Teaching Award from Chi Epsilon for the southeastern United States.
