This volume presents a series of case histories on the use of instrumentation and data acquisition to address nonproprietary chemical process control problems. In each case history the system process will be described along with the problem that prompted the process improvement investigation. The data acquisition and measurement systems that were used will be described together with the methods for data reduction, analysis, and conclusion. Finally, the results that were achieved in each process modification will be explained. The volume also will include an overview of the types of instrumentation and data acquisition systems used in these case histories and how changes have progressed over the 25 years that cover the case histories.
