This companion volume to the "Programmer's Reference" provides an overview of the Microsoft Windows multimedia architecture and the Media Control Interface (MCI). The book is divided into three sections. Part 1 describes the MM Windows architecture and introduces the Media Control Interface, which provides high-level control of audio and animation sequences and of external MM devices. Part II describes how to use the various MM functions: audio functions, MM Movie Player functions, hardware device functions, video functions and timer and joystick functions. Part III covers the Media Element Manager, which handles all operations required to load, save and manipulate media elements.
