Sinopsis

Colorado waited for years for major league baseball and when it came in 1993, it was magic. Record crowds flocked to Mile High Stadium and the Colorado Rockies served up a great summertime experience. In the midst of that panorama of the Cubs, the Braves, the Dodgers, and the rest of the visiting National League clubs, stars like Andres Galarraga, Dante Bichette and Charlie Hayes began to emerge as the Rockies formed their compentitive personality. It was a uniquely mountain west addition to major league baseball. Chronicled here is an intimate and glorious look at the spectacle of an historic season in the Great American Game -- the Summer of the Rockies, baseball's unique expansion team.

De la contraportada

This book captures the spirit, the spectacle and the excitement of the Colorado Rockies' first season, which, in many ways, is unique in American sports. Few teams can match the excitement that the Rockies have generated. The unprecedented fan support - more than four million people from around the country visited the ballpark - enabled the team to break almost every major league attendance record. Spectacular color photographs (more than 250 in all) by leading national and regional photographers document the season and are complemented by stories from some of the noted writers in the area. The essays describe the one-hundred-year history of baseball in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado's entry into major league baseball, Rockiesmania and the development of Coors Field. Colorado Rockies - The Inaugural Season celebrates the players, the manager, the coaches, the front office and the greatest fans in major league baseball. Every fan will want to own this collector's edition.
