This second edition of "The World Food Problem" incorporates an up-to-date description of the state of world food supply and demand, as well as an assessment of prospects for the future. Recognizing that millions of people in the less-developed countries continue to go hungry, while there is more than enough food in the world to feed them, the authors tackle the question of why - and what can be done about it. Added features of this edition include a section on food and the environment, a discussion of prospects for continued growth in agricultural productivity, and reports of recent research conducted by international organizations (eg. the World Bank and FAO), NGOs such as the World Watch Institute, and individual scholars and practitioners.
