Sinopsis

The world around us and the living beings are complex dynamical systems, with a high capability of self-organization: the book explains the principles that rule this exceptional characteristic. As well as living beings, Artificial Neural Networks, that constitute one of the most promising tools for the development of Artificial Intelligence, are self-organizing dynamical systems: this makes them an optimal tool to analyze and simulate the brain and any expression of organized complexity.

Acerca del autor

RITA PIZZI is Senior Researcher at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Milan. She had her MS in Physics and her PhD in Electronic Engineering. Her main interests involve computational intelligence methods and their applications to the biomedical field. In 2009 she developed a bionic creature connecting a network of human neural stem cells to a robot with a bidirectional ANN-driven interface. Currently she is developing a computational intelligence method to codify neural correlates of qualia. More details on her research activity and the list of publications can be found at the page http://www.di.unimi.it/pizzi . MARIALESSIA MUSUMECI had her BS in Neurophysiology Techniques and her MS in Cognitive Science and Decision Making at the University of Milan. Then she continued her professional experience at the Advanced Biotechnology Center, consortium of the Ministry of Research. She is currently PhD student at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Milan.
