"I Was There" tells the story of Micah, a Jewish olive grower in Nazareth at the time of Jesus. Micah and his family knows Jesus from the time of his infancy to his death on the cross in Jerusalem. This historical novel offers insights into how a Jewish person at the time of Jesus might have reacted to the teachings and life of the Jewish teacher. Micah knows the apostles and is present at all the great moments and events of Jesus' life and his suffering and death. His story gives a perspective on how Jews at the time reacted to Jesus. Micah is drawn to Jesus and has to come to his conclusion about who Jesus was. In the post-script, his grandson Avi shares his own views two generations after the death of Jesus. The story follows the historical narrative of the gospel of Matthew and is faithful to the gospel's depiction of the events and words of Jesus. Rabbi Michael Mayersohn has been a Jewish spiritual leader serving synagogues since 1979. He is a scholar of the early history of Christianity and how the followers of Jesus created a new faith tradition.
