Jae Carvel is inspired by the many stories of her ancestors who came to Eastern Oregon as pioneers. She combines imagination with history to create the stories for her books. Jae is retired from teaching junior high and lives with her husband in the state of Washington, not far from her original home in Prairie City, Oregon where her stories are set. Jae has six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, making retirement just a word, not a way of life. She travels, gardens, golfs and writes novels.
