One of the main sources of uncertainty in any power transfer is'caused by the impedance mismatch between the source and the power sensors connected to the source. Figure 1 shows the alternate connection of two sensors to a source. The power sensors in a direct comparison are of the terminating type and usually consist of a standard sensor and one or more unknown sensors. Historically, the direct comparison method was used for single frequency or narrow-band measurements or for measurements where a low uncertainty was not required.
