There are three conditions necessary to the development of right moral conduct. The child must know what is right; he must desire to do it; but, most important of all, he must be trained, through constant practice, in the formation of good habits.
The knowledge of the right and the emotional basis for future action may be given by means of story, poem, song, memory gem, games, dramatization and other class or group exercises. In such instruction, care should be taken to avoid pointing the moral, as to do so is likely to spoil the emotional reaction desired. While this instruction will constitute a very small part of the day's work, the doing side or practical appli cation will be constant.
