Sinopsis

Excerpt from Introduction to Architectural Programming

Although its form and role may vary from project to pro ject and from design method to design method, program ming is nevertheless an integral part of the planning of any building. With the architect involved in projects of greater and greater complexity, the value of the program has grown from a means of getting to know the problem to that of an instrument which limits and directs the planning process. Whereas in the past programming amounted to little more than a superficial involvement with familiar and uncomplicated functions which had little or no direct influence on the operations of design synthesis, it is developing into a syste matic, analytical discipline with ever increasing interface with planning operations. The increasing number of firms which specialize in this area is evidence of the new importance placed on programming and its recognition as a distinct compo nent of the design process.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the critical yet often overlooked role of programming in architecture. Recognizing the evolution of this field from a superficial exercise to a systematic discipline, the author explores programming's integral relationship with the design process. Drawing upon a wealth of research in allied disciplines like psychology and sociology, the book emphasizes the importance of both traditional and non-traditional facts in programming, demonstrating how they directly influence the consequences of architectural decisions. The author meticulously outlines a model for programming that begins with the identification of critical issues and moves through a careful analysis of facts and their implications, culminating in the formulation of precepts and concepts that guide the design process. By examining the role of programming as a bridge between the client's needs and the architect's creative vision, the book offers a comprehensive framework for understanding and applying the principles of effective programming in architectural practice. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Nº de ref. del artículo: 9781528209946_0
