Sinopsis

Excerpt from The Transition-Curve Field-Book: Containing Full Instructions for Adjusting and Locating a Curve Nearly Identical With the Cubic Parabola in Transition Between Any Circular Railroad Curve and Tangent

In the investigation of the principles upon which the rules are based, it will be seen that with data consisting in great part of familiar approximations used in circular-curve location, and with no mathe maties beyond a little algebra and trigonometry, practically exact results are reached in regard to laws of the Transition Curve and its relations to circular curves.

By means of Transition Curves of less than 15° of central angle, tangents can be connected with all circular curves used on railroads, their combined location presenting little, if any, more difficulty than ordinary circular-curve location.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book provides an empirically backed solution for the problem of uneven curvature in railroad tracks. The author's method is the use of a continuous cubic parabola transition curve that ensures a smooth connection between circular curves and tangents. The author provides a detailed, step-by-step field-guide for implementing the transition curve, discussing necessary calculations and providing adaptable examples. The text is a valuable contribution to railroad engineering as it solves common track connection problems leading to track damage. The author's approach is applicable to all circular curves used on railroads and can be used to plan new track and make adjustments to existing track, thereby increasing efficiency and safety. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Nº de ref. del artículo: 9781527826410_0
