Jesus, the name °ven to our Lord at His circumcision (luke. Ii. Was that by wgich He was familiarly known while on earth. The word Christ - th a plied to Him as a name by the angel who announced His to the shepherds e, ii. And once or twice used in this sense by our Lord Himself (ch. Xxiii. 8-10; Mark. Ix. 41)
