Creative Exchange was launched in response to the question, “How do we support a movement around the power of local art and artists on a national scale?” The online platform shares stories of artists with impact, practical toolkits to spark change, and acts as a hub of conversation and connection. These field notes are a selection of the 220 artist profiles and special features published in the first 2 years of the platform. The book is organized by themes that have emerged in the stories we’ve shared – artists as catalysts for stronger communities, bringing people together to create new social bonds, reimagining what’s possible with our social and economic constructs, new contexts for classical forms, social change movements impacted by artists, nurturing new artists through innovative programming, creative business models shaping the new economy, and organizations opening up through integrating art and artists into their work.
