Written in a conversational and highly personal style, the book describes how the parables were received by Jesus’s listeners and their meaning for us today. The parables of Jesus lie at the core of his teaching. In fact, there is no better way to know the heart and mind of Jesus than to study these “earthly stories with a heavenly meaning.”
In Stories Jesus Loved to Tell, author Daniel D. Oravec looks deep into the teachings of these parables to show what Jesus most desired to communicate: the kingdom of God and the message of unconditional love.
By studying the parables as if no other record of Jesus existed, Pastor Oravec unpacks the core ideas of love and forgiveness that permeate these stories and stood in direct defiance to the establishment’s teachings of obedience and sacrifice.
With chapters such as “Jesus Had a Favorite Story,” “Unutterable and Ecstatic Joy,” and “Love Is a Harsh and Dreadful Thing,” this remarkable book provides a fresh and exciting perspective on these well-known narratives.
In the vein of Henri Nouwen and Richard Foster, this incredible resource is an essential addition to the library of anyone looking to learn more about Jesus, his teachings, and the kingdom of God at the heart of his message.
