Keith Laumer (1925-1993) was an American science fiction writer and former diplomat whose experience in international affairs informed many of his works. Best known for the satirical Retief series and the Bolo military science fiction stories, Laumer's fiction often blends action, political tension, and speculative imagination. His novels and stories remain valued for their energetic pacing and inventive scope within mid-twentieth-century science fiction.
