No matter where we live there is withing many of us a desire to commune with nature. The city-bred man especially can feel a constant yearning to get out and away from all the noise, bustle and strife for quiet times among the hills and along the cool streams. Although many have this desire a great army of would-be sportsmen, on account of business and for various other reasons, cannot explore the wonders of nature as often as they would like. They are none the less sportsmen, however, and keenly ardent ones at that, for their heart's in the right place. To this great army we have faith that this book will appeal; that it will open the doors which obstruct their vision of nature's sublime beauty; that it will in a small measure, at least, alleviate the suffering of those who would but cannot answer the call of the outdoors. There are many kinds of sport, but in this book we have to do but with two classes, the angler and the hunter.
