After the Civil War, the family left their home and went to Texas. There, Han became a cowboy, working for awhile with his cousin, James Monroe Choate, and then going on cattle drives to Kansas. He went through several phases: as a cowboy, an outlaw, and a ranger. Little is known of his last days, however his story was vivid enough that it endured over the years as family lore.
