Sinopsis

In 2014, I wrote "Future Perfect", a novel about a woman without a known past who battles against secrecy, insecurity, and the unexplained kindness of others. The library is her second home, net surfing is her pastime, eavesdropping is her passion, and driving around gives her inescapable anxiety. Has a mistaken computer click erased her past? Her subtle resilience leads to encounters in Asia, America, and Europe that bring back memories of love and devotion half a century earlier.

I recently read the Conversation's 3 June 2024 article written by Kate Falconer entitled, "You can now be frozen after death in Australia. If you get revived in the future, will you still legally be the same person?" This made me resurrect "Future Perfect" with a new cover. It has been ten years, but it has never been relevant than today.

Reseña del editor

A woman, without a known past, battles against secrecy, insecurity and unexplained kindness for a future better than the present. Sally doesn’t have to worry about food, shelter and other necessities yet struggles with her rapidly changing life in England. She is desperate to understand her mysterious existence and the unrequested assistance she receives, especially by a stranger-turned housemate named Anna. The library is her second home, net surfing is her pastime, eavesdropping is her passion and driving around gives her inescapable anxiety. Her first date dies then her psychotherapist, and she wonders if she brings curse to those who cross her path. She doesn’t have relatives and former work colleagues, and finds this unacceptable. Has her past been erased by a mistaken computer click or simply shelved for no reason? Her dreams of strange people and places prompt her to dig up the truth. She must be patient and trusting at a time when complexity is a norm and friends’ loyalty is rare. Her subtle resilience leads to encounters in Asia, America and Europe that bring back memories of love and devotion half a century earlier.
