Alan Roderick, the man who can't die of old age, is in England at the start of WW 1. He is recruited to become a one man destructive force for the Royal Flying Service. Given the most advance aircraft in the world at the time, his mission is to harass the Germans in any way possible, becoming a kind of deterrent force and attractive nuisance. He is so successful the German High Command makes his demise a priority. He is so skillful at aerial combat, though, they must finally send one of their best, Manfred von Richthofen. to rid the skies of the this maniac in a purple airplane. The battles between the Red Baron and the Purple Duke are only one of the many types of conflict in the story. There are the matters of the morality of war, war and love, war and soul, even war and business. Alan Roderick thinks he can settle these conflicts caused by war by finding peace. Is that as easy as it sounds?
