Jerry L. Rodnitzky is professor of history at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he specializes in recent American social, cultural, and intellectual history. He holds bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Illinois. His books include Minstrels of the Dawn: The Folk-Protest Singer as a Cultural Hero (1976), and more recently, Jazz-Age Boomtown (1997), Feminist Phoenix: The Rise and Fall of a Feminist Counterculture (1999), and Lights, Camera, History: Portraying the Past in Film (2007). He is also the author of numerous journal articles and book chapters. He is a founding and continuing advisory editor of the journal, Popular Music and Society and an advisory editor for The Journal of Texas Music History.
