The Buenaventura Clan had achieved the impossible. Despite their humble roots, they had reached the pinnacle of their rigidly structured, South American society. But their success was to be short lived. Political turmoil raised its ugly head, forcing them to flee to The United States. Confident that their fortune was bound to make their transition a simple one, the Buenaventuras were ill prepared for the spiny issues that would arise at every turn. Blurring the lines between writer, reader and characters, the author give us an irreverent, hilarious and utterly original exploration of the hidden traps within multicultural experiences.

Sylvia Lyon Rodman was born in Chile. Political upheavals of the 1970s forced her to move, first to Brazil, and later to the United States. She worked at Spanish International Network (SIN), where, as a pioneer in Cable TV she was instrumental in the formation of Galavision, the first Spanish language Premium Pay Service in the world, as its Program Director. The playwright, translator and short fiction writer returns to the world of letters with her debut novel. A graduate of NYU, she is a member of The Dramatists Guild. She lives in New York and Connecticut.
