He is the author of The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction, and editor of Addiction Inbox. He has written for Scientific American, The Dana Foundation, The Fix, Salon, Huffington Post, AlterNet, California, Omni, and other magazines and blogs. He received the 2012 Excellence in Media Award from the College on Problems of Drug Dependence and the National Institute on Drug Abuse for “increasing pubic understanding of scientific issues concerning drug use disorders.”
