Sinopsis

The greatest identified problem with the United States educational system is the dissemination of knowledge of content and language to English language learners so that they can perform excellently in their academics, while increasing in their level of English proficiency. It is in this light that this research aims to examine one of the possible strategies that can be employed by teachers in order to achieve this aim. Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) has been identified as one of such methods capable of helping students improve not only on their language ability, but also on content. Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol is more or like a framework aimed at promoting content instruction by integrating features such as writing, listening, reading, and speaking in teaching language.
