...Giveth ...Taketh Away is the story of Richard Summers: a man who craved few things in life. His journey begins in the very last days of a long drawn out war. He and his three teammates begin to dream of home, warm comfortable beds, hot showers, and many other simple pleasures they had not enjoyed in years. But soon, they learn that they must stay a little while longer. These four Americans become guests of a small village located in the foothills of the southern Ural Mountains. It is here that they begin to live again, and become acquainted with the resiliency of the Russian people. Richard learns of a human kindness and authenticity he never thought really existed at all.

Born in Washington D.C. on February 12, 1967, R. M. Bean spent his early years in Maryland. He moved with his family to a small town about 25 miles south of Boston and attented traditional schools. In his late twenties he became an avid reader: choosing books written by authors that most of us would consider to be the master of literature. Years later, his daughter pushed and prodded him to put pen to paper. When he finally gave in, ...Giveth ...Taketh Away was the result. Robert's main goal in writting is much the same as his reasons for reading: escape. He hopes to help take his readers away from the speed and congestion of the modern world with what he calls, "Good old fashioned story telling".
