Sinopsis

“History of the Devil: His Origins, Greatness, and Decadence” is a 1870 work by Albert Reville. Albert Réville (1826 – 1906) was a prominent French Protestant theologian famous for holding liberal views labelled 'extremist' at the time. He wrote extensively on the history of world religions and was famously a proponent of David Strauss' theory that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was in fact a vision caused by a nervous disorder and mass hysteria. This fascinating volume deals with the history of the concept of the Devil, exploring different ideas of the “Evil One”, their development, history, differences, and similarities. “History of the Devil” will appeal to those with an interest in demonology and the bible, and it is not to be missed by collectors of vintage literature of this ilk. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.
