In an examination-oriented, mass education system, where one size seldom fits all, the ubiquitous drive - obsession almost - to "complete the syllabus" conspires to ensure that some passengers are ultimately left sitting disconsolately in the back row. To get to their destination they must, invariably, either take another taxi or walk. Kathleen Robinson's 'A Voice for the Children in the Back Row' mirrors, in many ways, my own experience in the classroom for more than three decades. The gifted and the disadvantaged suffer equally as the teacher struggles, virtually on his own, to fulfill mainstream societal expectations. Biografía del autor

Kathleen Robinson obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Education Degree from York University, Ontario, Canada and her Masters in Education at Mount Saint Vincent University, Nova Scotia, Canada (partial distance education).

Her teaching career spans over thirty years, from the primary school levels to secondary levels in both Trinidad and Toronto, Canada. She has also tutored at the tertiary level at the University of the Southern Caribbean in her native country, and she continues with her passion at the University of Trinidad and Tobago.

In addition, she has tutored hundreds of students in her private tutorial program to assist remedial students and others who needed to maintain a high degree of competencies for the local examinations. She has built a stellar reputation as a private tutor - some parents believe she has a magical touch - as most of her students are guaranteed to be placed in the best schools. Her private secondary students always were successful at the local examination.

It is Mrs. Robinson's pedagogical enthusiasm that makes this book a must read for interns, practicing teachers and retired teachers any where in the world.
