My Owner by Whitey the Truck My owner, "Brilliance", is better known to his friends and family as Stayton C. Weldon. Stayton was born and raised in Yorktown, Texas on his family's ranch. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1957 and received a football scholarship to Victoria Junior College. After being named to the Junior College All-American football team he transferred to Western State in Gunnison, Colorado where he continued to play football and received degrees in Sociology and Psychology. He moved back to Texas and received an Elementary Education degree from Texas A&I University. Stayton's move to Texas allowed him to be "back at the ranch" while teaching physical education and coaching junior high football. In 1982, he was able to pursue his life-long dream of being on the ranch full-time. Ranching runs deep in his blood as he is a 4th generation rancher on both sides of his family. In 1995, Stayton's passion turned to preserving the rancher's way of life. Ranching operations have dwindled to 700, 000 independent cattle producers from 1.9 million producers 30 years ago. He has spent countless hours fighting for ranchers so they and future generations can pursue their love of the land. He has served as a regional director for R-CALF USA, a national and non-profit organization dedicated to fighting for the U.S. cattle producer. Stayton currently resides in Cuero, Texas with his wife, Mildred. They have 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
