Carla Mitrani (@amourfou_crochet) is a crochet toy designer and maker, with over 178,000 followers on Instagram. She sells her patterns on Etsy and Ravelry, as well as being a bestselling author. Her first book Crochet Iconic Women sold over 40,000 copies worldwide. She is regularly featured in the crochet press and lives in Buenos Aries, Argentina.

Welcome to the world of Peter Rabbit! It makes me so happy to share with you my love for Beatrix Potter’s characters. You see, Beatrix (am I allowed to use her first name?) and I go way back! When I was growing up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I had all her illustrated books. When my father began to travel to London for work, he always brought me back as a gift a small porcelain figurine of one of Beatrix’s characters, all of which I still treasure.

When my sons were born, their nursery room was decorated with framed watercolour paintings of Beatrix’s drawings made by my aunt Carine, for she knew how much I loved Beatrix’s art. And in July 2019, with my husband and the boys, we rented a motorhome and spent a vacation in her beloved Lake District. We even got to visit her farmhouse, Hill Top, which is featured in The Tale of Tom Kitten.

So you see, transforming Beatrix’s drawings into crochet toys is a dream come true. I have tried to make Peter Rabbit as easy and cuddly as possible so you can crochet him and recreate some of the adventures and mischiefs Beatrix’s imagination conjured up for him in her beautiful stories.
