Originally published in Germany in 1923. This is the English edition translated by J. Schwabacher. Probably the most important book ever published on this popular breed. The illustrated contents include: The Shepherd dog and Herdsman’s dog, their Origin and Relationship – The Nature and Service of the Shepherd Dog – Breeding – Rearing – Judging – Training – Kennels – etc. Many of the earliest dog books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
