At last, a clear, practical guide to the weekly Jewish holiday of Shabbat, celebrated by Jews around the world. Most Jewish readers are familiar with the concept of Shabbat and many already celebrate some aspects of the holiday. Shabbat offers a particularly appealing entree into traditional Jewish practice and Angels at the Table interweaves liturgical text, practical advice, information, anecdote and history to provide a perfect introduction for anyone who has ever wanted to tap into the Shabbat experience. In clear, straightforward language, it explains the myriad rituals, customs, prayers and rules of a traditional Jewish Shabbat and includes common songs, prayers, recipes and personal stories. Whatever your level of knowledge or religious observance, Angels at the Table will answer your questions and become your most trusted resource in observing Shabbat in your own life and understanding how it has sustained the Jewish people through the ages.
