Reseña del editor

Although the five problems here presented are based on very definite events in Medieval history, they have also a certain illustrative value. The more intensive study of sources, which the arrangement of the book demands, should arouse greater interest on the part of the average student, and should produce a real appreciation of the nature and importance of sources, as well as a deeper insight into the life and character of the people described. Enough time must be devoted to each problem to give ample opportunity for careful and thorough study. The class should first be asked to read the entire problem for discussion in recitation. The suggested questions, or others of similar kind, can then be assigned to individual students for written exercises.
