GROWING UP IN THE STREETS OF CINCINNATI, I SAW A LOT OF THINGS.BEING IN A ONE PARENT HOUSEHOLD, I SAW A MOTHER STRUGGLING HER WHOLE LIFEAND TO HAVE NOTHING TO FALL BACK ON AT THE END OF HER LIFE BUT MORE STRUGGLES.MY FIRST DEALING WITH DRUGS WAS TO HEAR THAT MY AUNTIE HAD OVERDOSED AT A YOUNG AGE. I LEARNED THAT ONE OF THE MOST DEADLY SINS IN LIFE IS JEALOUSLY.PEOPLE CAN DISLIKE YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE, BUT GOD GIVES EVERYBODY THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO OUT AND MAKE WHAT THEY WANT OF THEMSELVES. I JUST WANT TO GET THE POINT ACROSS THAT KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. IF NOT, HOW COULD A FEW SETTLERS COME TO AMERICA AND TAKE OVER AN ENTIRE COUNTRY? BEING A BLACK MAN, I KNOW THAT THE ONLY WAY THAT WE CAN BRING OUR RACE TOGETHER IS TO BRING BACK THE FAMILY UNIT. THE WAY I SEE IT, OUR RACE GOES TO CHURCH MORE THAN ANY OTHER RACE I CAN THINK OF; YET, WE CANNOT FOLLOW THE BOOK THAT WE GO TO CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY TO LEARN. SO, HOPEFULLY WITH THESE POEMS THAT THE LORD HAS GIVEN ME, THEY WILL JUST MAKE YOU THINK.
