She will be sharing an attic room with three other girls and working on the farm from before the sun comes up until after it goes down. Callie turns seventeen the day after arriving at the Johnson home. She doesn’t know a thing about farms or animals but after a close call with Dillon, another resident at the Johnson home, Callie isn’t about to look for any help. She doesn’t need help. She can figure things out on her own. She can manage just fine. She doesn’t need pity, and she certainly doesn’t need any guy. She’ll just tough it out until she’s eighteen. It’s that simple.
