CARSTEN TIMMERMANN is a Wellcome Research Fellow at the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University of Manchester, UK. He works on the history of biomedicine and has published on medicine in interwar Germany and the histories of hypertension and lung cancer. JULIE ANDERSON is a Research Fellow at the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine and the Wellcome Unit at the University of Manchester, UK. Her areas of research include the history of disability and war. She is currently completing a book with John Pickstone on the history of h
